I still can't believe he is gone. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him. And I pray to him very often to take good care of Sydney, give her kisses and hugs for me.
For those that don't know the story my brother got sick mother's day weekend 2009. He had the flu which didn't go away and one night while sleeping his wife woke up to him having a seizure. He was admitted into the hospital and kept seizing. They could not get him to stop so they put him in a medically induced coma. For 3 months he was in this coma. Every time they tried to take him out he would seize. He had many emergencies while in the coma. There were a couple times we just didn't think he would come out. July 2009 he finally came out of the coma, best birthday present ever. This did not come without problems though. He had lots of physical therapy ahead of him. But we were just happy he was alive.
For the next year we had to re-learn how to walk and use his hands. But every time I saw him he seemed to be doing better and better. Thanksgiving 2010 I remember his "I am thankful" speech. He was thankful for his health. He was doing great!! Christmas it was almost like the "old" Seth was back. He was even drinking (non alcoholic) beer.
February 2011 things went down hill. He had a seizure at home and was admitted to the hospital again. In the hospital he was out of it, but still alive. Then things took a turn. He started getting pneumonia and that was causing more seizures. So they had to put him back in a coma. He was in a special bed that would turn his body to try and get the fluid out of his lungs. On valentines day 2011 we had a meeting with the doctor. It was not the kind of meeting we were hoping for. He basically told us it is time to think about taking him off life support. His body was strong the first time he could fight it. This time he is weak he won't be able to handle another 3 months in a coma. So we all decided we would have to take him off. We will have to say goodbye. On Feb 17, 2011 the whole family gathered at the hospital and we all got to say goodbye to him. His organs were donated, so we had to wait for the surgery. He was surrounded by his whole family when he took his last breath. I miss him so much.

I remember being broken-hearted for you when you lost Seth because I have a brother named Seth too. Every time you post about him, it makes me think of my brother and count my blessings in having him in my life so I want to thank you for sharing your memories/stories of your Seth. I am also glad that you have the knowledge that Uncle Seth is there in Heaven playing with your precious Sydney......and that they are both waiting anxiously to see your face when the time is right.
